There are over 400 entries in this competition with around thirty finalists being chosen to compete for the acquisitive first place prize.The main aim of the prize is to encourage and promote contemporary Australian portraiture. Artists are invited to submit up to five portraits.The winner receives $150,000, making it the richest acquisitive portrait prize in the world.
There are also 3 x $10,000 highly commended places.
