Created in 1994 as a spoof of the more serious Archibald portraiture competition, the Bald Archy provides the opportunity for artists of all standards and styles to create portrait paintings of humour, dark satire, light comedy or caricature. Often, persons of celebrity or fame are used as subject matter. Politicians are also fair game. Works that make the finals are included in a traveling exhibition to many regions around Australia.The acquisitive Bald Archy is valued at $7500 in 2012.
