Waterhouse Natural History Art Prize

This is Australia's richest prize for natural history art.
The winner of the acquisitive, overall Waterhouse Natural History prize will receive $50,000.
Category A - painting, Category B - works on paper and Category C - sculpture and objects have first prizes of $10,000, second prizes of $5,000 and third prizes of $2500.
There is a peoples choice prize of $5,000. 
Also includes the Waterhouse Youth Art Prize which has a first prize of $4,000, second prize of $2,000 and third prize of $1,000.
Winning works travel to the National Archives in Canberra for exhibition. Entries costs vary depending on category and electronic or postal submission.

A $1000 encouragement award
A $1000 peoples choice award
All prizes are non acquisitive
Up to $5000 will also be awarded to an artist for costs associated with a site specific work.Artists entering in this category must a submit a budget and detailed description of the proposed work and its location. The theme for this prize is rethink, reduce, reuse, recycle.Works may be for sale.
Works go through a preselection process with successful artists being notified by March 25th 2011.

McClelland Sculpture Survey & Award

Established in 2003, the McClelland Sculpture Survey & Award is the most influential and prestigious exhibition of outdoor public sculpture in Australia. It brings together a wide range of work from sculptors working in different media and styles.
The acquisitive McClelland Sculpture Survey has emerged as the most important biennial sculpture exhibition in Australia, displaying a wide range of works in different media and styles by both established and emerging artists.
Shortlisted artists will be vying for the acquisitive McClelland Award of $100,000 for outdoor sculpture. Also includes the $20,000 Frankston City Award for the work voted most popular by visitors to the McClelland Sculpture Survey.
Works go through a pre-selection process and 21 successful finalists will be selected.

National Photographic Purchase Award, The

National Photographic Purchase Award, is run in alternate years to the Albury Art Prize. There is a $10,000 acquisitive award and the $1500 John and Margaret Baker award for best emerging photographer. Doug Moran National Portrait Prize

There are over 400 entries in this competition with around thirty finalists being chosen to compete for the acquisitive first place prize.The main aim of the prize is to encourage and promote contemporary Australian portraiture. Artists are invited to submit up to five portraits.
The winner receives $150,000, making it the richest acquisitive portrait prize in the world.
There are also 3 x $10,000 highly commended places.

Country Energy Art Prize for Landscape Painting

Also known as the Essential Energy Countryscapes Art Prize

This is Australia's richest non acquisitive annual landscape art prize. In previous years over 400 entries have been received. A panel of judges select 42 finalists. Finalists will be notified of selection by September 23rd.Finalists work is exhibited and the major winner is chosen from the finalists. Works can be any medium in 2D except photography.

Please note that the 2011 exhibition will be held at the Bathurst Regional Art Gallery.
